Browsing the Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS) Observation Data using DataFed.net

The Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS) provides meteorological and fire danger data collected at a network of fire weather stations across the U.S. WFAS is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service. Currently, observation and forecast data are presented as static tables and spatially interpolated maps.
The following web applications illustrates the use of DataFed web services to build a dynamic application that allows for customized maps while maintaining the ability to browse the archive. The maps are generated on-the-fly using a “chain” of web services. The image URL can be embedded and controlled in any other web application.

WFAS Observation Data Spatio-temporal Browser (client side) A browser with controllable DataFed map view and time view built using JavaScript and HTML.

WFAS Observation Data Spatio-temporal Browser Datafed.net (server side) A browser with controllable DataFed map view and time view built using the .NET Environment.

WFAS Data Availability Status A time series display of the number of valid data points per day.

WFAS Multi-map Comparison A web application that can compare two spatially interpolated maps. Built using JavaScript and HTML.
