The Wildland Fire Assessment System (WFAS) provides meteorological and fire danger data collected at a network of fire weather stations across the U.S. WFAS is maintained by the U.S. Forest Service. Currently, observation and forecast data are presented as static, interpolated maps.
This demo illustrates the use of web services to build a dynamic application that allows for customized maps while maintaining the ability to browse the archive. The maps are generated on-the-fly using a “chain” of web services. The image URL can be embedded and controlled in any other web application.
This demo includes a spatial interpolation web serivce. By selecting the 'Display as Interpolated Map' check box and clicking the 'Update Map' button, the point data will be spatially interpolated to generate a color contour map.
